I'm Bashem, a software engineer building mobile experiences and tools for the web. I care about how software feels, how it works, and how it holds up over time.
Senior Software Engineer Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh
At Samsung, I contribute to SmartThings on iOS and watchOS app. My work spans architecture, state management, performance, and testing.
Outside work, I build projects like CFTracker and an interactive React Native chart library. Competitive programming is another part of my practice: breaking down difficult problems and finding a better way through.
Contributing to the SmartThings iOS app, with 10M+ downloads, using Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, and Combine within an MVVM-C architecture.
Develop the SmartThings watchOS app as the primary owner on the Bangladesh team, using SwiftUI.
Improve architecture and maintainability by reducing duplicate logic, migrating ReactiveSwift to Combine, and transitioning UIKit views to SwiftUI.
Achieved 90%+ test coverage for ViewModels and internal state management stores using XCTest.
Fixed 10+ memory leaks with Instruments, reducing memory buildup by approximately 23% over repeated use.
Reduced a performance-critical function from O(N×M) to O(N+M), bringing execution time from approximately 140 ms to under 50 ms. Optimized debug logging from approximately 2 s to 50 ms.
Built proofs of concept with WatchKit, HealthKit, WidgetKit, and Core ML, and resolved 150+ bugs, including critical production issues.
